In the high-end smartphone market, the competition between the new Android flagship and Apple iPhone has been fierce. Unfortunately, although there are several so-called "iPhone killer" mobile phones, including Samsung, LG and HTC, every year, these companies may encounter some unexpected big problems in the near future. According to business Korea, due to the supply of Qualcomm snapdragon 810 SOC, a number of mobile phones originally scheduled to appear in the first half of next year may have to be postponed.
Among the affected manufacturers, Samsung Galaxy S6, LG G4, Sony Xperia Z4 and HTC one (M9) bear the brunt. An industry source, who declined to be named, said:
"Qualcomm has encountered a problem that is difficult to solve. When a specific voltage is reached, the snapdragon 810 will overheat. However, due to the problem of memory controller connected to AP, the speed will slow down. In addition, an error has been encountered in the drive side of the Adreno 430 GPU. ".
As an eight core SOC, the snapdragon 810 integrates four a57 and four A53 cores, and supports 64 bit and Ultra HD displays.
Although Samsung can equip the galaxy S6 with its own exynos chip, in the past, the company still needs to use variants of Qualcomm platform in some regions.
On the LG side, the company has not yet produced its own chip solution, which will be applied to its next high-end intelligent machine. Therefore, the production delay of Xiaolong 810 may have a great impact on it.
As for whether these manufacturers will launch new machines, it’s still too early to say. The rest depends on Qualcomm.
