01. Intelligent cockpit, who is taking action?
Since two years ago, there has been an interesting phenomenon in the automotive industry where many car companies emphasize their intelligent cockpit functions during new car launches. For example, when SAIC MG launched its new car MG ONE, its highlight was the first model equipped with the Luoshen intelligent cockpit system. Now, with the rise of Huawei's intelligent cockpit, more and more car companies are promoting the use of Huawei's intelligent cockpit as their main selling point when launching new cars. root
According to KPMG's "2023 Intelligent Cockpit White Paper", it is expected that the market size of intelligent cockpits in China will reach 212.7 billion yuan by 2026, with a compound annual growth rate of about 17% from 2022 to 2026, and the penetration rate is expected to increase from 59% to 82%. Why has the development of intelligent cockpits been so rapid? Guo Gang gave four reasons.
The first reason is the upgrading of user needs. Previously, users only used cars as a means of transportation, making it easier to get from point A to point B. But as users spend more and more time in the car, and their place of residence gradually shifts from the city center to the suburbs, the daily commuting time is about 40 minutes one way. During this long time, users not only want to drive, but also want to get more information and hope that the car can provide more help, such as navigation, voice assistants, etc. User demand upgrade is an important driving force for the development of intelligent cockpit.
The second reason is the cross-border integration of technology. From the Internet and ICT, the cross-border integration of many software and hardware technologies of mobile terminals with cars has made intelligent creation develop very rapidly. For example, the screen of a car is many times larger than that of a mobile phone, and the software it is equipped with is mostly on the phone. So users will naturally transplant some of their habits of using mobile phones to car screens. Although the scene has changed, the commonly used tools and applications have not changed. The cross-border integration of technology, as well as the development of chips and domain controller operating systems, have jointly promoted the development of intelligent cockpits.
The third reason is the application service ecosystem of Internet ICT companies. The application service ecosystem in China is very large, and the supply chain system is very complete, which has promoted the development of intelligent cockpit technology.
The fourth reason is the guidance of national policies. The national strategy is to vigorously develop the digital economy, intelligent technology, and new energy intelligent connected vehicles. Last year, the Chinese Society of Automotive Engineers released a white paper titled "Classification and Comprehensive Evaluation of Automotive Intelligent Cockpits", which defined intelligent cockpits based on five levels of autonomous driving: CL0 functional cockpit, CL1 perceptual intelligent cockpit, CL2 partial cognitive intelligent cockpit, CL3 advanced cognitive intelligent cockpit, and CL4 comprehensive cognitive intelligent cockpit. The higher the level, the stronger the active interaction ability of the intelligent cockpit, the richer the service content, and the wider the application scenarios.
